Apart from studying (and I am doing a lot of that at the moment), I have a few things planned for February. Spring is getting closer, there are daffodils in the shops (not in my garden though) and it’s not dark at 4pm any more. Hurrah for February! Here are a few things I hope to do this month.
- Dinner at John Salt, in Islington. There was a bit of a hoo-ha at the end of last year regarding this restaurant. It was getting rave reviews, so I decided to try and get a table. I managed to get one but not for a few months. Then the celebrated chef thew a bit of a hissy fit and left (the story is here). As a gesture of goodwill, the restaurant offered me 50% off the food if I kept my booking. A love a bargain, so of course I kept the booking. And now John Salt is getting reviews like this. I have high hopes.
- A trip to Brighton. I haven’t been for years. I’m meeting my mum for lunch. She will be there with my Dad who is playing in a chess tournament. (He’s shit hot at chess). My mum is a chess WAG. There aren’t many of them about. Strangely, chess seems to attract mostly men who have not got wives or girlfriends. (This is not strange at all). I’m taking the boy too, so sadly I won’t be have a proper look in all the chi-chi shops. Alas he’s not much into shopping.
- Plants. I want to get some houseplants for our pad. I hope I can find a spider plant I can hang in a macrame holder, but I’m not sure my husband will approve. I love the 70s vibe, it reminds me of my childhood. (Picture sourced from this beautiful blog).
- My son is really into superheroes and comics at the moment, so I’m hoping he will like the new Lichtenstein exhibition at the Tate Modern. It looks fun.
What are your plans for February? Are you doing anything exciting?

Ooh Brighton! Have fun (I live here)! I am also very much into the idea of the Lichtenstein exhibition – big fan of pop art x
Ooh I should be using your insider knowledge.. Where’s good for lunch? Me, my mum and a five year old. We like our food!
There are so many amazeballs restaurants, I suppose it depends exactly what you fancy. Give me an idea? x
Sorry been busy as a bee. Perhaps a relaxed gastropub? Or somewhere with a good lunch deal? Where’s your favourite place to eat? Even if I don’t make it this time, definitely worth having a few in the bank!
